Tigera Talks:

Zero Trust Networks come to Docker Enterprise Kubernetes

Docker Enterprise got a big upgrade this year with Calico 3.5 for its Kubernetes networking! One of the most exciting new features is the ability to build Zero Trust Kubernetes networks with Calico Application Layer Policy in concert with Istio service mesh. Zero Trust networking is a way to build distributed applications such that they maintain security, even when containers, or the network itself, is compromised. Starting with Docker Enterprise, they will demonstrate some common network attacks such as IP address spoofing and certificate exfiltration, then demonstrate building a Zero Trust network (by installing Istio and Application Layer Policies) for the application. They will show how this Zero Trust network repels all the demonstrated attack strategies and explain how to build and maintain a Zero Trust network for your own applications.

Session Track: Using Docker for IT Infra & Ops

Building L3-L7 Security Guardrails around K8s & Service Mesh App Policies

As organizations adopt Kubernetes and Service Mesh technologies like Istio within Docker Enterprise, developers now can enable fine-grained network and application policies in a declarative manner in lock step with K8s and Istio, as enforced by Calico within Docker Enterprise.

Tigera Secure complements this by enabling Platform/Cluster Operators and Security teams to build security fencing around individual applications and teams, tied to native Kubernetes/Docker user authentication and RBAC along with tiered hierarchy. This solution can also be used for detailed cluster visibility and scalable flow visualization, as well as dynamic generation of Continuous Compliance reports for auditability to enterprise and regulatory compliance rules. The session will provide a demo of these capabilities with a typical application workload.
