Today we’re excited to share with you a sneak peek of a significant advancement in the state of the art for Kubernetes networking.
The Calico team has always advocated the importance of network policy for security and the massive opportunity that the move to micro-services architectures presents to go beyond the limitations of traditional n-tier security models. We’ve done a number of demonstrations and blog posts in the past showing how Calico can bring network policy to Kubernetes deployments (see here, and here). However, these demos have always been done using custom techniques, not integrated into the standard Kubernetes API model.
Over the last few months we’ve been working with the Kubernetes networking SIG to bring the community together around a standardized network policy API. Today, we’re really excited to give you a sneak peek of that API. Check out the recording below to see it in action using Calico!
This API is a result of lots of hard work from all across the Kubernetes networking community, and we think it is a great start. Stay tuned for more information as this API solidifies and Kubernetes network policy moves from the experimental domain to fully supported production readiness.
